At the heart of my practice is a reverence for the word inukit—a Tagalog term meaning "sculpted" or "carved." It is a quiet reminder that every object we bring into our homes should carry a deliberate intention, shaped from a raw element into a form that holds space in our daily lives. I am drawn to furniture that honors its structural lineage while resonating with our changing realities, bridging a deep respect for traditional woodworking with a functional language built for modern life.
My perspective has been shaped by two distinct topographies and cultural lineages: the rich artistic heritage and craftsmanship of the Philippines, and the vast, grounding forests of Canada. The names within our collections reflect this dual identity—moving between the glacial expanses of Peyto and Moraine to the coastal silhouettes of Coron and Lagen. Working with natural materials taught me that design must grow directly from the environment and the unique character of the material itself. The delicate grain patterns, the natural texture, and the honest weight of solid wood dictate the boundaries of everything we create.
Guided by this, our aesthetic is rooted in absolute restraint. We allow the natural movement and grain of the wood to define each form, focusing on the quiet harmony between silhouette and texture. There is no added ornamentation; the complexity is intentional yet hidden, found in the precise, seamless way individual elements meet.
I want our work to invite a tangible sense of discovery and longevity. The act of engaging with an Inukit piece—whether selecting a custom configuration or simply running your hand along a carved edge—is designed to be an intuitive, tactile experience. Ultimately, our studio stands at the intersection of these overlapping worlds: the material honesty of Canadian woodcraft, the nuanced elegance of Filipino heritage, and a forward-looking commitment to thoughtful utility. We create work that serves as an enduring anchor in an evolving home—pieces that carry the story of where they came from, while speaking clearly and beautifully in the present.
